Primary Responsibilities

• Teacher in a classroom of early childhood students;
• Lead/Co-lead an Immersion program in January;
• Develop and propose new Immersion term programs;
• Prepare progress reports;
• Report to the Early Childhood School Division Director

Qualifications

• Undergraduate or advanced degree(s) in Early Childhood Education or equivalent;
• Knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in The Reggio Method, Waldorf and Montessori teaching philosophies is preferred.
• Ideal candidates will possess prior experience teaching in early childhood school settings;
• Candidates without prior teaching experience will also be considered;
• Demonstrate computer literacy and proficiency (e.g.,word processing, Google platforms, email, Internet, presentation software, student information systems and online gradebook programs)

Primary Responsibilities:

• The accurate and timely, as-needed tech support for school employees, students, and other members of the school community, with the assistance of a student team when available and including user training when appropriate. 
• The technical management and maintenance of technology resources (desktops, laptops, servers, network infrastructure, etc.). 
• Lead classes and support classroom teachers on technology related subjects.

Qualifications

• A history of professional growth and learning. 
• Technology support and/or customer service experience. 
• Experience with current network and enterprise technologies. 
• 4-year degree in field or related certificates. 
• Strong customer service, “listen first” attitude. 
• Ability to learn and enthusiasm for constant improvement. 
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

The Role

MVS is seeking a dynamic and innovative Library Media Specialist. The ideal candidate is passionate and skillful as both a librarian and an educator, eager to invest their talents in creating a welcoming, up to date physical space as well as inspiring our learners. This person must establish a supportive and engaging environment for students ranging in age from three to eighteen, demonstrate the ability to create developmentally appropriate curricula, work collaboratively with colleagues and parents, have excellent communication skills, and demonstrate teaching proficiency and comfort with a variety of different teaching and learning styles. The candidate will be responsible for meeting the community’s ever-changing information needs through developing the library collection and identifying appropriate electronic resources.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conducting research instruction sessions and collaborating with teachers to develop research assignments that support 21st century skills and critical thinking; planning and teaching K-12 class sessions, lessons, read alouds, book talks, and activities as required by grade/division.
• Leading improvements to school-wide information literacy and digital citizenship curriculum based on forward-thinking state and national educational standards.
• Supporting and promoting open access and intellectual freedom.
• Tracking usage data; evaluating and reporting the effectiveness and value of library services to the MVS community.
• Developing/creating supporting collections for K-5 classes from local public libraries.
• Responsibly managing library budget/expenses in accordance with Business Office guidelines.
• Developing library policies that ensure equitable access to materials and that align with the ALA Code of Ethics.
• Conducting all day-to-day library operations, including:
  • Circulation
  • Readers advisory
  • Recruiting, scheduling, and training library volunteers when possible
  • Collection development (selection, acquisition, weeding) for the physical and digital collections
  • Cataloging new materials and preparing new materials for circulation
  • Maintaining a functional, accessible, and inviting library space

Qualifications

• Master of Library and Information Science, or Master of Education with K-12 School Library Media licensure
• Enthusiasm and amiability in working with children of all ages
• Solid vision of the essential role of an effective 21st Century library program in K-12 education
• Strong technical skills
• Able to set and meet goals, to work effectively and self-sufficiently
• Growth-oriented and adaptable
• Demonstrated independent problem solving skills
• Familiarity with Google Apps for Education, Koha ILS, open source software, and MySQL strongly preferred but not required

The Lower School Classroom Teacher must be a passionate and skillful teacher, who is eager to invest his/her talents in our lower school program. They must establish a supportive and engaging environment for lower school students (grades K-5), work collaboratively with colleagues and parents, have excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a desire to embrace immersion method into their teaching. In addition, this teacher will have completed coursework or possess teaching experience in specific subfields of elementary education (e.g. classroom/behavior management, social and emotional learning, child development, subject expertise etc.) related to his/her teaching responsibilities.

Expectations

• Establish a supportive and engaging environment for students;

• Develop and facilitate culturally inclusive curricula and inclusive classroom practices;
• All faculty can expect to travel with students (grades 4-12) for 1-3 weeks per year.

Primary Responsibilities

• Teach in a classroom setting. Responsibilities and classes vary based on grade level;
• Lead/Co-lead an Immersion program in January;
• Develop and propose new courses each year, including new Immersion programs;
• Serve as an advisor for a group of 10-12 students in Middle and Upper Schools;
• Lead and/or advise extracurricular activities, which include student clubs and athletics;
• Report to the appropriate Division Director.

Qualifications

• Possess a desire to work with students in an experiential setting;
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents;
• Possess excellent communication skills;
• Ideal candidates will possess prior experience in teaching, advising clubs, coaching athletics, and/or leading student travel learning programs;
• Undergraduate or advanced degree(s) in appropriate programs; 
• Candidates without prior teaching experience will also be considered.

The Role

The Miami Valley School seeks a part-time After School Care Staff member in providing quality childcare for children pre-K through grade 8. We operate a vigorous after-school program designed to offer a safe yet educationally fun environment.  Approximately 15 hours per week.

Reports to: Extended Day Coordinator

Expectations

• Demonstrate an ability to develop a rapport with faculty, administrators, students
• Attention to detail
• Strong customer service skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritize and multitask

Primary Responsibilities

• Engage and supervise children by ensuring safe environment
• Organizing and serving snacks
• Supervising homework

• High school diploma or equivalent

Title: Bus Driver

The Role

MVS is seeking a responsible and reliable school bus driver to transport students to field trips and athletic events, while ensuring their safety. The school bus driver’s responsibilities include ensuring proper vehicle maintenance, observing safety and traffic rules, and maintaining order among students while they are on the bus.

The Opportunity

To be successful as a school bus driver, you should enjoy working with children and strictly observe passenger transport regulations. Ultimately, a top-notch school bus driver should be meticulous when it comes to vehicle inspections and regard passenger safety as the highest priority.

School Bus Driver Responsibilities:

• Being attentive to traffic and weather conditions and ensuring passenger safety.
• Following the planned route and schedule for departure times and stops.
• Regularly checking vehicle safety such as tires, brakes, turn signals, mechanical equipment, etc.
• Monitoring and reporting fuel consumption, mileage, and passenger numbers.
• Reporting delays, accidents, and emergencies.
• Responding to emergency and non-emergency situations.
• Inspecting the vehicle thoroughly before and after each trip.
• Assisting with the loading and unloading of the bus when required.
• Enforcing conduct and safety rules on the bus.
• Maintaining a clean vehicle.

School Bus Driver Requirements:

• High school diploma/GED preferred.
• CDL license required.
• Passenger and school bus endorsement required.
• Clean driving record.
• Previous experience as a bus driver.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Working knowledge of first aid procedures.
• Excellent communication skills.
