The Miami Valley School has introduced an Asian Studies program in its Kindergarten through 12th Grade curriculum, starting in the fall of 2007. Headmaster Peter Benedict II strongly believes that Asian Studies are of great importance to the school’s mission to educate, “compassionate global citizens.” He explained, “When our students graduate, they will aspire to positions of leadership and therefore we must prepare them for the realities of China’s place in our future global economy.” The school is pleased to announce that Hua Zhang has been hired to teach Mandarin starting in the fall semester. Zhang grew up and studied in Shanghai, China, and is excited and enthusiastic about joining The Miami Valley School faculty. She expressed, “It will be a great opportunity for me to teach students about a country with over five thousand years of history and civilization.”
