Students of the second grade brainstormed and thought about things that were long and that could be connected together. Many ideas emerged, from rivers to roller coasters, a flute, a jump rope, a fence and more. The classes voted for two, a vine and an eel. One class drew the vine and the other class drew the eel. The students individual drawings connected together to form a whole (vine or eel). The sculptual process of papier mache was introduced and each student created one section of a vine. Animals and flowers were added with sculpey clay. The sculpture stretches to form a 45 foot vine. |
