The very core of a school's excellence lies in its academic program. It is here that a school signals its values through the scope of material offered, demonstrates its philosophy through instructional methodologies, and develops college-prepared scholars.

At The Miami Valley School, our academic program is the foundation upon which all else is built. From staffing to scheduling decisions, we constantly ask ourselves, “What is academically best for our students?”

And that explains why the MVS academic program is second to none in our region. It has been honed over the past 45 years, blending traditional and trusted methodologies with cutting-edge techniques fresh from national conferences that our teachers regularly attend. In fact, our standards surpass all Ohio state and national core standards. Not constricted by annual state tests, we are able to embellish our curriculum, liberally adding to the core requirements.

Every day, in 45 to 90 minute blocks, our outstanding teachers inspire, facilitate, and nurture academic learning. It is a process that repeats hundreds of times a year ensuring the mastery of skills, covering centuries of history, reading canons of literature, and completing dozens of experiments.

The results are outstanding: 100 percent of our seniors are accepted to four-year colleges and universities; we boast the highest SAT and ACT averages in the region year-after-year; and nearly a quarter of our senior class is recognized by the National Merit program each year.
