KindergartenThe faculty of the kindergarten program employs an integrated curriculum to fulfill objectives across the spectrum of learning. Experience centers allow children to explore while fostering creativity and encouraging children to express their individuality. Children participate in physical education and movement activities to advance body awareness, coordination, and gross and fine motor development. The program with its low faculty/student ratio promotes interactions between children, building self-confidence and problem-solving skills. Through class activities and interaction with teachers, children learn that they are special and valued members of the class. The literature-based language arts program includes beginning phonics and thematic units. It builds upon children's language abilities by further developing listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while fostering the love of learning. The mathematics program is based on discovery through a hands-on approach. Through free and guided exploration, children learn math concepts and experience problem solving. Children have the opportunity to meet with teachers in the special areas of art, French, music, science, speech, and physical education. Field trips allow children to learn more about their community. |
