Will my application for financial assistance influence my child's application for admission?

All admission applications are reviewed by the Admission Committee and will be accepted, denied or placed in the Wait Pool depending on their admission to MVS solely. All accepted students applying for financial assistance will then have their financial assistance application reviewed by the financial assistance committee.

Does The Miami Valley School offer Merit Scholarships?

Yes, MVS does offer Merit Scholarships to qualified students. Merit Scholarships are based on academic, the arts or other merit consideration. Financial assistance awards are based on a family's demonstrated need.

Will returning students receive the same financial assistance package year to year?

The Miami Valley School's first commitment is to returning students, but eligibility is determined annually. Every family must complete a financial assistance application for each year of matriculation to determine eligibility.

How early can I apply to MVS?

If you plan to enter in September 2010, the earliest you can apply is August 1, 2009. The deadline for applications is January 30, 2010. After the January deadline, applications are accepted on a "rolling" basis.

What does MVS look for in applicants?

MVS looks for academic achievement and promise, as shown by a student's transcripts, test scores, and teacher recommendations. We also pay close attention to personal qualities, which we measure through motivation, character, extracurricular interests, and the ability to adapt to The Miami Valley School community.

What is the most important part of my application?

While strong scholastic achievement (as shown by a student's academic record, standardized test scores, and teacher recommendations) is important, it does not guarantee admission. Other important factors include the applicant's character, personality, motivation, extracurricular interests, and ability to live compatibly with others.

Does The Miami Valley School offer athletic scholarships?

The Miami Valley School only offers financial assistance based upon the information provided to the financial aid office by SSS our financial aid service provider. Along with financial assistance, MVS offers Merit Scholarships, and a Music Scholarship established in 2009.
