MVS Students and Middle School Division Head Explore Ghana
Head of Middle School Bill Glisson traveled to Ghana, Africa this past summer with a group of 15 MVS students. The 13 day exploration took Glisson and the students on a wide range of activities including, overnights in native villages, tours of forts and castles, animal safari excursions, and many other diverse experiences. The group visited these villages and ancient sites to learn more about the traditional ways of life in rural Africa. They also studied about the history of the country, including many areas that were established as part of the Western Africa slave trade. "Ghana is a great location for African exploration because it maintains a strong African culture but is also an English speaking nation," explained Glisson. The group also visited and established relationships with two schools while in that region of Africa.
