Stepping Out

Stepping Out starts with the premise that "life is essentially interesting." We want students to explore their own culture and those of others, to seek emotional and physical adventures, and to come to a place where they can be confident of their decisions without putting down anyone else's. To accomplish these ends, we participate in a variety of activities.

During the first weeks of Immersion, Stepping Out activities included: flying, learning To-Shin Do at the Quest Center, a cooking experience making apple dumplings, learning to knit, climbing at Urban Krag, and learning how to change a flat tire. Students took the Myers-Briggs and then had a session with Sandy McConnell illuminating our similarities and differences, and how we operate within our personality types. Students visited the Hindu Temple in Beavercreek, the Islamic Education Center in West Chester, Temple Beth Abraham and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
