India and Nepal: In the Footsteps of Lord Buddha

The first day of Immersion (February 19th) started with the film O God Ganesha. The group discussed the book Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
Mr. Hayes, who just came back from India and Nepal, discussed the current
situation in India and political unrest in Nepal. Students learned the Do's and Don'ts in these countries and feel that they are well prepared. They also finished reading Cultural Shock. They then went to a Hindu temple and did Yoga in the temple and got blessings and the head priest.

The India and Nepal Immersion left Wednesday, February 20th and arrived safely in India on February 21st. They spent the first few days in Delhi and enjoyed ricksha rides while there. They then traveled by train to Agra on Saturday and took another train to Jaipur on Sunday.

February 27 - (email from Ashwi Birdi) We are having a great time; everything is working according to the plan. We have been to Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. We are now in Dharamshala. It is beautiful. It seems as if we are in the lap of Himalaya. Our plane flew over the Himalaya range. It was amazing.

Kids are doing fine but I am freezing here. It is so different; we see so many monks walking down the street and driving cars. It actually feels like Little Tibet. These snow covered peeks do not seem real. It is so beautiful and relaxing but cold. The Dalai Lama residential place is 3 Km from where we are. We will go to get registered for his public address tomorrow. Our bags are multiplying and getting heavier - from 18 to 23. I had to pay 3500 rupees for the additional load. This is what is called travel light.
