Independent Immersion - Fashion Design / Media / Market

The four students spent time studying several different jobs and facets to the fashion industry. For the first week, they went to New York City and met with many people in different areas of fashion. This includes several people at David Yurman, The V.P. for Roberto Coin Jewelry in America, the head of E-commerce at Giorgio Armani, people in the design department at Victoria Secret, designer Barry Bricken, and Howard Kurdin, the head of Shore to Shore Brand Packaging and Labeling. We also visitied three exhibits for fashion, including one at the MET, and two at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Back in Dayton, they began working on their Fashion Magazine, sat in on a class for Buyers and Merchandisers at University of Cincinnati, toured the Shore to Shore factory, and met with Meredith Moss, the fashion journalist for the Dayton Daily News.
