Stepping Out

The mission of Stepping Out is to explore the idea that while no one person is the center of the universe, everyone is an important part of it, and there are a lot of wonderful things in the world worth exploring.  The design of Stepping Out encourages students to investigate their own culture and those of others, to seek emotional and physical adventures, and to come to a place where they can be confident of their decisions without putting down anyone else’s.  To accomplish these ends, students participated in many endeavors that might lie outside their normal sphere of experience.

Ninth graders enjoyed a variety of experiences including yoga, to shin do, dancing, flying, visiting the Islamic Center, visiting the Cincinnati Zoo, and a planned two-night stay (which ended up being a 4-night stay because of a blizzard) at Hocking Hills.
