First established by the class of 1990, the Senior Family Gift has become a wonderful tradition, and a way to express appreciation to the MVS faculty for their dedication to education and their commitment to our students. Over the years, many families have appreciated this opportunity to be part of a group gift to thank the faculty. The Senior Family Gift is the perfect way to celebrate and recognize the graduating class. Each year, the Senior Family Gift is invested in The Miami Valley School endowment and added to the fund for faculty support. Since 1990, the amount raised through Senior Family Gifts adds up to $123,385. In addition to Senior Family Gifts, more than $100,000 in proceeds from the annual auction has been invested in The Fund for Faculty Support. The total amount of this endowed fund is more than $250,000. Additionally, there are a handful of individually named funds that are also designated for faculty support. What is The Fund for Faculty Support? The Fund for Faculty Support offers funding for faculty to pursue opportunities such as professional development, support for a special course or project, funding for visiting artists and speakers, and other related purposes. These are the types of programs and projects that keep our faculty current and introduce new opportunities for our students. Only investment income is spent each year (about 5 percent of the corpus). This ensures that the principal remains invested for the long term benefit of providing this extra level of support for our faculty. How Much Does Each Family Contribute?Over the years, the Senior Family Gift for each graduating class has ranged from $1,250 to $16,550 (Class of 2007). This reflects participation percentages ranging from 31 percent of families participating to 102 percent (Class of 2000) |
