Middle school Student government leaders paired with alumnus Chef C. Quinn Speck ’76 and Missionary Flights International (MFI) to donate more than $2,000 to the relief efforts in Haiti. Students raised the money by holding a silent auction and bake sale on-campus. The auction featured around 20 items that required no outside costs to the school, such as free homework passes, teaching a class for a day, making a teacher dress as a clown, and being principal for the day. Speck said the money will go to good use in the country. “This great school effort and kind donation will help 1,000 people with needed supplies and [provide] 200 tents/housing, which is so needed right now with rainy season just around the corner in Haiti,” he said. |
