Library

The Lange Library serves the upper and middle schools of The Miami Valley School. It is open every school day from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The collection contains over 11,000 print and video titles, and offers access to many online resources through Internet links.

The Lower School Library opens at 7:45 am and closes at 4:00 p.m. daily. The library houses books for students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. Students in Kindergarten through grade three visit the library weekly. Activities are planned for the younger students while research skills are taught to the older students. The library has an extensive reference section for fourth and fifth grade students doing research. The library has a cozy picture book room for the young readers, complete with stuffed animals and small chairs. The librarian visits the Early Childhood Center once a week to read to all of the students. Books are taken at that time and left until the following week when the books are picked up and new ones are left for students to read. One third of the library space has been converted to a technology center consisting of 18 personal computers. Third through fifth grade classes visit the center on a weekly basis to receive instruction on keyboarding, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, the Internet and general research.
