Lindsey Cummings Runs Boston Marathon, Teaches the Next Day

Lindsey Cummings, upper school social science teacher and MVS track and cross country coach, has been running competitively since high school. But today was the first time she taught an entire day of class and then coached a meet after running the Boston Marathon.

Cummings returned to her classroom today to find balloons and streamers and a community eager to hear about her personal triumph. She ran the Chicago marathon last year to qualify for Boston and was especially thankful for the crowd support, unique to the Boston Marathon, this past weekend.

She flew home last night, and was surprised to find her plane was parked on the tarmac, requiring steps.

“And those are really big steps.” She joked, saying it felt like it took her ten full minutes to board.

Cummings ran the entire marathon in an impressive 3:30:24 with a pace of 8:02.

Will she run again next year?

“My brother will,” she says, still undecided. She’ll be there either way.
