Tyler Benedict
MVS fifth graders Ryleigh Manuel and Emma Myers have been selected for the OAKE National Children’s Choir! Over 600 students from around the country auditioned for this ensemble, with 100 being selected to perform. Ryleigh and Emma are excited to represent MVS and Dayton, Ohio, on a national stage!
The students are currently in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, rehearsing with their fellow singers. The National Choir will perform this weekend at the OAKE National Conference.
The mission of OAKE, or the Organization of American Kodály Educators, is to support music education of the highest quality, promote universal music literacy and lifelong music making, and preserve the musical heritage of the people of the United States of America. The organization is named for Zoltan Kodály, a Hungarian composer who began writing for children’s choruses and became a zealous educator dedicated to reforming the teaching of music and making music an integral part of every child’s schooling.
We strive to make our admissions process pleasant and achievable. Apply now, and begin the journey toward building a better community through education.
