MVS Students Honored in Art Competitions

February 10, 2023

Two MVS student artists have earned distinction in prestigious national and regional art contests! Lucy C., a junior, had her ceramic work Gradient Splat selected for the National K12 Ceramic Exhibition. Over 1,300 student artists from across the country submitted work to the National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition, with only 12% of entries being selected for inclusion.

Gradient Splat also won Lucy a Regional-Level Gold Key in Ceramics & Glass from the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Lucy’s Gold status means that her work will go on to be juried at the national level. Gradient Splat is currently on view at Dayton’s K12 Gallery & TEJAS from January 28-February 25 along with other Regional Exhibition honorees.

MVS ninth grader Yuyan L. was also recognized in the regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards with two Silver Keys for painting. Her two winning works, Texturized and Strawberry Sprinkle, are also currently on view at K12 Gallery & TEJAS.
