MVS Students Present at TEDx Youth Conference

April 3, 2020
Miami Valley School

Senior Nola Timmons and Sophomore Ande Burns presented at TEDxYouth @ Dayton 2020 on Thursday, March 5. The event, a local, self-organized offshoot of the famous TED talks, features teens ages 14-19 who have ‘ideas worth spreading.’ Nola discussed her experiences navigating through society while legally blind, while Ande examined the effect of sexualized media. MVS Director of Technology, Bryan Lakatos, who served as co-chair this year, shared his mission for the students participating: “Hundreds of people show up to hand the microphone to young people…and then get out of the way to listen to the wisdom of their own experiences, which isn’t honored enough.”

Thank you, Nola, Ande, Bryan, and Jacob McGlaun and the MVS Jazz Band for proudly representing MVS!
