This year, The Miami Valley School will commemorate its 60-year journey to becoming the premier school in the Dayton region. The MVS 60th Anniversary Celebration will gather current parents, alumni and alumni parents, leaders and friends of MVS from across the ages for an evening of fellowship, reflection on the school’s impressive history, and enthusiasm for its future. The event will feature our signature Silent & Live Auction, and proceeds support countless academic, extra-curricular, and facility needs through the year.
Immediately following the Celebration at Sinclair, guests are invited to continue the evening at the Sixties Soiree After Party at The Grande Hall. This is an additional ticketed experience that will feature risk-free gambling, live entertainment, dancing, late night snacks by Rich Taste Catering, and a premium open bar by Bonbright and Tender Mercy! Complimentary transportation will be provided to and from Sinclair and The Grande Hall; the party will conclude at 11pm.

G. Jonathan & Rebecca Boeckling
Jonathan and Rebecca Boeckling are parents to a 3rd grade student at MVS. Their son began his MVS journey in the EC, and has enjoyed the benefits of immersive learning with educational opportunities like Kindergarten Cafe, Heritage Day, and Astronomy Overnight. Jonathan and Rebecca have been active members of the community and have served as Co-Chairs of The Golf Outing in Memory of Andrew Z. Arnett ’04 and Co-Chairs of the 2023 MVS Gala: Cultivating Future Leaders.
Tom & Amy Brereton
Tom and Amy Brereton, faithful friends of MVS, are delighted to be Honorary Co-Chairs of the 60th Anniversary Celebration. Tom served as MVS’ Head of School for 20 years, part of a 32-year MVS career that began in 1974. During his tenure, Tom had the pleasure of working with brilliant faculty, talented administrators, and dedicated, forward-thinking trustees. He takes pride in the many accomplishments and milestones that were achieved as MVS grew and matured. Importantly, it was also through MVS that Tom met Amy, and together they were blessed with four children: Rebecca ’03, Jake ’06, and twins Emma and Charlie, both of whom attended MVS until Tom left Dayton to become Head of School at The Galloway School in Atlanta, GA. Following Galloway, Tom served as Director of Institutional Advancement at The Duke School in Durham, NC, and Head of School at Episcopal Day School in Pinehurst, NC. He retired in 2019 after a 44-year career in independent schools. Tom and Amy are enjoying retirement in Pinehurst while also regularly visiting their 4 children, a daughter in-law, a son in-law, and 2 grandsons, both of whom live in Colorado.
60th Anniversary Celebration Advisor
Dr. Barbara Cleary
Dr. Barbara Cleary joined the English Department faculty at MVS in 1972, and taught for over 50 years till her retirement in 2021. The Clearys graduated three of their four sons from MVS, Tim ’85, Matt ’91, and Dennis ’92. Since retiring from teaching, Barb is still very active with the school and serves as Alumni Associate in the Advancement Department, providing critical support and connections to alumni over the past 60 years. Barb also generously supports two faculty scholarships annually, which gifts the recipient a personalized opportunity to experience professional development in an immersive way.

Silent & Live Auction
Our Silent Auction will feature a variety of packages, such as culinary experiences, student-made art, sports tickets, family outings – there is truly something for everyone! The Live Auction will take place during the formal program, and consists of a limited selection of high-value, unique excursions. All bidding is done through the mobile app BidPal, so you can support the auction at the event or remotely! Proceeds from the auction will support essential school functions, such as need-based scholarships, educational programs, and daily operations.
Do you have an item or experience you’d like to donate to our Silent Auction? Our community is eager to bid on packages from organizations that provide experiences like private dinners, tickets to a variety of shows or sports games, and immersive events or live demonstrations for all ages. We are accepting donations to the Silent Auction until March 15. If you have questions about what or how to donate, please contact Silent Auction Committee Chair Monica Hyatt.
