Congratulations to the MVS upper school quiz bowl team, who finished seventh in the 2022 NAQT Small School National Championship Tournament (SSNCT)! The event, which was held in Chicago, Illinois on April 23-24, featured 55 teams from 25 states. The MVS team was comprised of Lakshmi Jain ’22, Andrew Holzinger ’23, Arshaan Kahlon ’24, Caroline Shoup ’24, and Ben Dannemiller ’25.

During Saturday’s prelims, MVS won 8 of their 10 games, earning the 8th seed in the 25-team double-elimination playoffs. On Sunday, MVS defeated Treasure Valley (Boise, ID) 255-200 and Tower Hill (Wilmington, DE) 340-220 before a 230-355 loss to top-seeded St. Mark’s School of Texas A (Dallas) dropped them to the bottom bracket. MVS bounced back with a 360-190 win over St. Paul Academy (MN) before falling 275-355 in a tight battle with third-seeded Toledo School for the Arts (OH).

Team captain Andrew Holzinger was named a Tournament All-Star for finishing in the top ten individual scorers, tallying 69.50 points per game in the prelim rounds.

Way to go, team!
