Title: Campus Safety Specialist, 10-month employee

The Role
The Campus Safety Manager supports the School community in overall safety compliance, training, and oversight of the school through a comprehensive safety program that supports the school, its occupants and its mission.

Expectations
The Campus Safety Manager will serve in the follow capacities:
- Community Member
- Model collaboration, discipline, and professionalism consistent with the school’s mission and values.
- Collaborate and communicate proactively, clearly and openly with The Head of School, members of the leadership team, Director of Facilities, faculty, staff, coaches, parents, students, as well as local law enforcement and fire department.
- Embrace the school’s vision statement on diversity (see website) and engage in training in multicultural practice.
- Work closely with the Head of School and Leadership Team in support of the school’s strategic plan “Elevate the Vision”(2021-2025) to build long-term planning for safety as it supports the strategic goal of wellness.
- General Compliance and Oversight
- Be knowledgeable of the school’s Emergency Operations Plan
- Ensure all safety protocols are followed as per Ohio Department of Education.
- Perform regular patrols to ensure visibility around campus and build trust
- Manage daily Drop-off/Dismissal processes.
- Be knowledgeable in Run Hide Fight protocol to provide individual and group training to faculty, staff and students.
- Lead and administer all required drills (Tornado, Fire, Run/ Hide/ Fight ) and any other drills or training deemed necessary.
- Support at major school events and periodic evening/weekend events (Homecoming, Convocation, Harvest, Graduation, basketball tournaments, etc.)
- Perform regular assessments of all vulnerabilities to campus safety (doors, windows, exterior entrances).
- Represent the school at appropriate local, state, and national safety meetings and associations, as requested.
- Ensure all classrooms are equipped with Emergency “go bags” that are regularly checked and updated.
- Serve as a liaison to law enforcement, fire department and other emergency responders.
- Coordinate with Division Directors in leading safety training for all faculty and staff leading up to Immersion.
Other Duties
- Review camera footage as needed
- Coordinate with tech dept on phone system, emergency page, intercom, radio
- Participate in meetings with school counselors to support students as needed
- Manage flagpole orders
- Other reasonable duties as assigned by the Head of School
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience in safety or security
- Certified Safety Manager or willing to work toward this certification
- Competency and experience in swift management of crisis
- Proactive, organized, outgoing, service-oriented, strong communication skills, with attention to detail
- Proficiency with Google Suite, calendar management, professional email etiquette.
- Must be able to be on their feet for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift 100+ pounds as necessary for the position.
