The end of the year means culminating learning projects at MVS.
Students in lower school share their progress and research in innovative ways.
In first grade, it’s Author Celebration time.
Each student presents a book they envisioned, designed, wrote and illustrated. In front of a parent audience, the children share who inspired them to write the book and who they dedicate the work to. Finally, they read aloud to everyone and host a question and answer period.
IRP, Independent Research project, is a project that spans the year as the 3rd grade studies communities, starting with their own and then moving to Japan to compare traditions and environments. For the Independent Research Project, the students present their research on a specific animal and share wide details and graphs and artistic pieces they made to convey their learnings.
“Did you know a baby Puffin weighs the same as one cheese stick?” One child asks.
And just around the corner in the Lane Gym, the fourth grade presents their state research in a fair format, where parents and visitors can walk from point to point to hear unique details about each state.
Next week, 5th grade will share their projects on trade show where they share research on a trade as an extension of the Williamsburg trip.
On Wednesday, 2nd grade researched their ethnicity and presented their findings through a celebration during which they dressed up in traditional garb.
It’s a fun filled end of the year for all.
