MVS Mandarin Students Perform at Cincinnati Asian Arts Festival
October 10, 2023
Tyler Benedict
MVS upper school Mandarin classes enjoyed a fun-filled day at the Cincinnati Asian Arts Festival in the Liberty Mall Square. 24 Mandarin language students and Chinese international students represented The Miami Valley School by hosting a tent to share Chinese culture with the local community.
Activities included origami making and paper plate decorating. Visitors also enjoyed samples of bubble tea made by the students. Students Alex Rak and Rita Tian performed the song “只要平凡”, which loosely translates to “Just Want a Peaceful Life,” with a guitar & vocal performance. Other presentations included Japanese, Filipino, Indian, Thai, and Chinese dances and various instrumental performances.
The Mandarin students enjoyed the immersive experience they gained by interacting with many native Chinese speakers and visiting the various other stands representing different Asian cultures! Thank you Gu Laoshi, Mr. Walker, Mr. Manning, Mrs. Leppla, Ms. Wright, Mrs. Dettmer, Mrs. Lewis and Dr. Munhofen for supporting the upper school Mandarin program!
We strive to make our admissions process pleasant and achievable. Apply now, and begin the journey toward building a better community through education.
